Using Feet in Thai Yoga MassageWith Dave Hoyle
This is an advanced 3-day course on how to use the feet more extensively during a treatment. We will explore techniques in supine, prone and side position, incorporating movement principles of Tai Chi and Qigong. The course content primarily consists of newly developed techniques and variations. Using our feet in Thai Massage brings a completely different quality to a treatment. The earth element becomes predominant and infuses the massage with a healing sense of being grounded and connected to the earth. Without this earth connection, it is difficult for our energetic and physical bodies to come to a complete state of rest and relaxation. As a result, we often feel depleted - physically, mentally and energetically. This has a major effect on our nervous system and general sense of well-being. Receiving an intentional and gentle touch from the feet impacts profoundly on the nervous system. When we practice in this way, the energy that is transmitted into the client’s body is solid and balanced. The quality of the treatment becomes deeply nurturing and instils a supportive sense of trust and confidence within the receiver. Movement fundamentals of Tai Chi and Qigong We will explore: • How to develop balance and transfer pressure with a strong sense of rooting • How structural integrity enhances our capacity and sensitivity to touch • Ways we can move with greater ease and fluidity Benefits of working with the feet • Greater grounding for both giver and receiver • Less dependency on the hands, reducing strains and injuries • Giving deep pressure with less effort • Experiencing full embodiment and working with a slower, more meditative approach About Dave Dave Hoyle has been practising Thai Yoga Massage for over 20 years and has a full-time practice in Matlock, Derbyshire.
